Hardware device drivers make an important part of the computers. Without having the drivers, Windows wouldn’t work in the right manner, would work below the expected efficient level, or it might not work at all. Below is some information about simple and safe ways for installing, rolling back and updating device drivers for hardware.

Reinstalling drive driver

If your computer happens to encounter with some hardware related problems then the first step that you would require taking is reinstallation hardware driver to the computer. On doing so, windows would automatically detect also install the hardware just like a new one. In order to install the device driver, you will require following a few simple steps. Firstly, log on to the computer as administrator and then click the start button. Then right click on it and go to Manage. Under the System Tools, you will be required to hit on the key Device Manager. In right pane, expand the categories for finding hardware that is required to be installed. Then right click device and click to reinstall. In Confirm Device Removal box, you will require clicking on the Ok key. If some message asks you to restart the computer then hit the key ‘YES’. This could also manually restart the computer. On restarting the computer, the Windows would automatically be detected and then reinstall hardware.

Upgrading device driver

Just by upgrading hardware drivers, one can prevent all sorts of hardware issues. Make a note that the updated drivers would be more secure also would help in improvising the performance of the computer. First step towards identifying the drivers is identifying the hardware. You would be required to follow a certain steps for identifying the hardware type. You will be required to log on to computer as administrator and the click on the Start button at My Computer. Next would be clicking on ‘Manage’. At the Manage tool bar, you can view Device Manager. In right pane, simply expand the category list and you will find hardware category there. The name you would view here would identify the computer hardware.  

In order to look for the updates for hardware drivers, simply look over the web with device name of your computer. Hitting the search button, a page full of results would pop up. After you have found the latest most version of the hardware driver, all you would require doing is downloading the hardware driver and then installing it on the computer. On completion of the installation, simply restart the computer. If some problems in case appear then update it. You would require rolling back hardware drivers.

Roll back device driver

It is quite an easy process and there is nothing as unsafe. By following a simple set of steps, you can roll back the device driver. After restarting the computer, Windows would use the previous version of driver. If updating, reinstalling, or even rolling the driver would not solve problem then you might consider reinstalling hardware. Although, drivers are main suspects, the faulty hardware installation would also have a share of the errors.
