LCD monitor image

Only a few decades ago, monochrome computer monitor that has green or amber colored display was considered as a high-tech device. Soon after, the color monitors took over but later became replaced by LCD monitors. As the resolution improvised, screen size too grew larger. The 17 inch to 19 inch screen monitors found their way for desktops for business as well as home purpose. Now, the CRTs that are of the mammoth size become old fashioned just like the amber colored monochrome monitors. The present day’s best-selling computer monitors are vivid, thin and flat LCDs. The flat panel monitors have continued to evolve. They are getting more and more wide also touch sensitive. The screen sizes have reached the gigantic new prospectus with the sizes of about 31 inches or even more. The monitors could be swiveled vertically for new view. Moreover, some computer users even prefer having multiple monitors connected to their PCs. Most famous PC manufactures, like Dell, Sony, HP and Toshiba, are also excellent monitor producers.

Computer monitors are the primary output devices for display information visually. Without a monitor, it would be difficult interacting with any computer. As most of us are spending hours every day in front of our computers, the text display of the monitor and the ergonomics is important as these are the factors that would affect your eyesight, comfort and even health.

Monitor driver is a program for computer that would allow a higher level of computer programs like system applications and user software to communicate with the monitor, which act just like another hardware device. Most monitors works with PCs through default compatibility designs like plug-n-play devices or default monitor drivers which are included already with all major operating systems. But sometimes, some monitor might require specific hardware device drivers for specific Windows operating systems like Windows Vista or Windows XP. Most likely, in these cases, monitor device drivers could be easily downloaded from monitor manufacturers.

Before you go on with installing a new driver for your monitor, it is necessary for you to identify both the manufacturer and the model of your monitor. Usually Windows users can use default monitor drivers without any issues. Windows XP or Windows Vista is pretty good at detecting monitor specification and thus automatically install monitor drivers and configure the monitor on the fly. If you are replacing an older monitor with a completely different monitor, then you should first remove the previous monitor from the Device Manager. And then, you should let the Windows operating systems discover, configure and install new device drivers for your new monitor.
