Missing motherboard device drivers

Motherboard image

Motherboard is a printed circuit board in your computer or a laptop. Motherboard is also known to us as the system board, the main board, or the logic board.

Most motherboards nowadays are designed for PC, which represents around 90% of the personal computing market. The motherboard is like the backplane which would provide with electrical connections through which other components of the computers would be able to communicate, but unlike the backplane that also contains central processing unit and the other subsystem like peripheral interfaces and real time clock. The basic circuitry and the components that are needed for computer for functioning are onboard the motherboard or could be connected by the cable. This would mean that the motherboard makes the heart of system and without which nothing could be started.

While installing Windows, at first there would be no hardware drivers already installed. Everything that is present in Device Manager would have exclamation mark around it. Although the fact that Windows is functioning properly, it would do it at the basic level. You would not be having the audio support and the other support systems present on the computer. One common mistake that most of the people do is installing all the drivers on the computer before even installing the motherboard driver.  If you happen to install the other drivers first and then the motherboard driver then chances are that you will find your computer working in a strange format. The games would not work, networking might fail or audio wouldn’t work. You must be wondering why such a thing is happening despite of installing all latest hardware drivers on the computer. The reason is simple that you missed installing motherboard driver. As motherboard driver links all of the hardware devices, it should be clear that nothing would work right on computer.

Now, this is the fun part: you will not be able to install motherboard driver after completing the installation of all other drivers. It might also work at times but the system would be found to be unstable, freeze, crash and throw about all sorts of errors. Thus, after working for a couple of hours for installing all the drivers, you will need some more time for uninstalling all of them now. Install motherboard driver and then go ahead to reinstall the other drivers. This sure is a waste of time but could be avoided if it is remembered that motherboard makes main hardware component of the computer.

In case, the motherboard drivers are found to be missing or are found to be corrupted then you will be able to feel it instantly. The video, audio, networking and other useful things would work below average speed. Your computer might also experience freezes and crashes.  Certain interesting and unique behaviours too could be experienced. Thus, finding out a solution and then fixing it up could take quite some time if the motherboard is not installed first. ‘prevention is better than cure’ is very much true.
