Install AMD drivers on Vista

AMD Logo

Windows Vista operating system from Microsoft is an easier and stable system to use compared to its predecessors. In most of cases adding peripherals is very simple as just a matter of plugging them into the computer and when they are plugged in, the vista operating system is designed in a way that it will automatically detect the new hardware plugged in and will add the required device drivers. However, in some cases you will also have to manually install the device drivers if the operating system does not have them pre-installed in the system. For instance, when you install AMD chipset or motherboard in your computer, you will also have to install the AMD drivers in the computes. For this, you will have to follow a specific procedure.

First you just have to install the AMD hardware according to the instructions provided in the manual of the device. Here you should make sure that all the connections are tightly seated. Then turn your computer on and let your windows load. When windows have loaded it will automatically detect the new hardware that is installed and then you can begin the step-up process. However if you don’t have administrative privileges for the computer then you will not be allowed to install any device drivers. Therefore make sure that you have logged on into the account that will provide you all the administrative privileges. Later insert the installation CD that you received with your AMD device. If the AMD device that you have is a vista certified hardware component then it will be automatically detected by windows. In some cases it might also show up a screen that will ask you to choose the type of hardware which you need to install.

Just keep following the prompts shown as every step would build the next step and it will take you through each installation task. However there are also some AMD chipset and motherboards that require more than a single driver and if this is the case you will be requested to install each driver. Most often windows will not automatically want you install the device drivers as you will have to do it manually. In such case just open your control panel and the device manager. You will find your AMD device in the list. You just have to right click and choose to update the driver software. However, if you have the installation disc then choose the option to browse the computer for device driver and locate the appropriate location.

After you have installed the AMD device driver you can also run a check to find out if a latest updated driver has replaced the one you recently installed. This can be done through device manager by checking for updates for your AMD drivers. It is important you remember that whenever you install new AMD device drivers or any other device driver make sure you have selected the right version for windows vista operating system as they are different for every operating system.
