DVD/CD drive is a hardware which reads a DVD or a CD. CD-ROM is used in all the computers. This is a masterpiece of the latest technology. It can store up to thousands of songs on a single DVD or a CD. The drivers help to start the installed hardware in the CPU. This CD driver once installed does the operation of reading, copying, installing and writing of the disk. This driver is the most important set of files for the CD-Rom device. Without this driver installed the hardware is of no use. Many drivers are available on the internet but they have to be downloaded as per the name of the product. A Toshiba driver downloaded won’t work for a Fujishu CD-ROM.

Drivers can be classified into 3 types- read only, write only, read & write drivers. The read only driver is for the normal CD ROM which does the task of reading and copying the disk. The write only driver is meant to only write or record disk. In this data can be transferred from the computer to the CD, this kind of CD-ROM have a different laser to read CD’s. For this recordable CD’s are been used. They are costly than the normal hardware. The last one is the read and writes. This is the devices where data can be read, edited and transferred to and fro from the computer. This requires rewritable CD’s. These are the various types of CD devices.

Always keep a back up of all the drivers required because of changing technology the driver for your hardware might not be available. CD drivers can be found on the motherboard CD also. If not the motherboard CD then it comes with the purchase of the CD-ROM. Necessary cables are also given in the box. Always insist on genuine drivers and make sure that they are embedded with the manufacturer’s logo on the CD. If no solution is found you can easily go to the device manger and roll back the driver. This will automatically load the original settings of the driver. Always upgrade the driver monthly as new files are added in the driver. The new and advance version of driver helps in the performance of the hardware. They also make sure that the hardware is not internally damaged by viruses. Having one of the latest drivers for your CD-ROM can help you write a CD in very less time. Many features can be unlocked of the product by using the latest driver.

Downloading the driver of a CD-ROM can be useful if the Driver has been corrupted by viruses. Make sure that the location where it is saved is not the one where the system or OS is installed. If the computer crashes all the files in the system folders will be rendered unreadable and thus useless, so saving of the drivers must be done in another location on a different hard disk. The CD driver comes with a unique installation code it is always advised to either memorize it or store it in a safe folder or to write it down. Sometimes the setup file is there but without the use of the installation code it cannot be accessed.
