Bluetooth logo

Bluetooth is a type of wireless technology through which you can communicate with devices across short distance with the help of radio waves. Although you might be familiar that Bluetooth is mostly used in small and wireless earpieces like cell phones this Bluetooth technology is also widely used in peripheral and computer devices. For instance you will find Bluetooth PDAs, Bluetooth printers, Bluetooth digital cameras and Bluetooth GPS devices.

If you need these drives to communicate directly with your PC then you will need to properly set up your PC with the right Bluetooth reception. For this you will first need a Bluetooth adapter installed in the PC. Most of the computers today come with in built support for Bluetooth. However, if your computer does not have this Bluetooth adapter there the simplest way to set up your computer for using Bluetooth devices is through the USB Bluetooth dongle. This dongle is a small device or a piece of hardware which will connect to your computer’s USB port. You can even install the Bluetooth card if there is enough free expansion slot in your computer.

When you have installed the Bluetooth hardware on your PC you will then have to install a Bluetooth device driver for the hardware. It is important you have the installation CD that come with Bluetooth dongle or card as it will let you perfectly install the device drives through the CD. This is not the final step for your Bluetooth device drivers as you will also have to install Bluetooth device drivers for every Bluetooth device that you might be using in your computer. For instance, if you are using a Bluetooth PDA and you want your computer to synchronize the date from the Bluetooth device then you will have to install PDA and also the required Bluetooth device drivers for the particular device. Similarly your Bluetooth printer will also have to be installed in your PC along with the required Bluetooth device drivers.

Bluetooth device drives are available with the required equipment on the CDs and they are also available for download through different websites of device manufacturers. This means that if you have a Bluetooth printer from a particular company you will have to refer the same company for Bluetooth device drivers. However if you find that you Bluetooth device has suddenly stopped working then your device might have become corrupt or might be missing. This can be with any device and also Bluetooth devices. The files can be missing after you have uninstalled other devices or software or also when installing a new software or hardware. File corruption can be due to computer crashes, unexpected shutdowns and failing hard drives. If you find that your device drivers need to be replaced or if you want to update the device drivers as the new ones offer you improved features then it can be done through the device manager and finding the appropriate device.
